How Do You Pronounce Pecan?

Our Favorite Pie
What it really comes down to is the fact that pecan pie is one of the more popular pies and that should be all that really matters, right? Thanksgiving time in the South without a pecan pie is almost unheard of. With fall quickly upon us, it is also that time of the year where we find pecans in full force. So, while we may not be able to agree on the pronunciation, it is a popular consensus that pecans are definitely delicious and nutritious.
Other Pronunciations
In addition to the two more popular pronunciations, there are a few others commonly used across America to talk about this delicious nut: • Pah-kahn • Puh-can • Pee-kahn If you can't decide with pecan camp to jump over to, you could always start using the more scientific term to describe our favorite pie Carya illinoinensis. However, we don't feel that this term is going to be as widely known or as accepted as any of the other variations we have come across.
Leave It Be
Perhaps this is just something we need to let be. It is just like deciding between a water fountain and a bubbler or putting sugar on your cornbread. It really is all about personal preference and can't be limited to only a regional or state thing.
